Case Study 002: Lengths by Skye Laila
Lengths by Skye Laila
April 2024 - Present

Overview:
Lengths is a high-quality hair extensions brand rooted in bold self-expression, identity exploration, and community culture. The brand empowers people of all genders and backgrounds to experiment fearlessly and embody their most expressive selves — using hair as art, as language, and as personal transformation.

Objective:
The brand’s feel is inspired by cool-toned, dreamy, cyber-esque imagery of Black women. It’s an embodiment of the evolution, subversion and transgression within Black beauty. A nod to how we’ve shaped culture, pushed boundaries and continuously redefined what beauty means.

It includes vintage 1970s beauty ads as a reference to the Black is Beautiful revival, paired with romantic typefaces and iconic pop culture visuals. Together these elements reflect the spirit of Lengths: bold, expressive and unapologetically transformative. Visual muses like rapper JT, Naomi Campbell, the high-low elegance of Miu Miu and touches of chrome throughout the moodboard embody the essence of the brand: where softness meets statement and glam meets grit.
